The Beginning – My Reading Journey :The 1970s

A Horror Story Encountered on My Reading Jpurney

I have never been much of a reader of “The Classics.” In fact, I’ve always believed that if I had been forced to struggle through too many of them when I was young, I might never have become the reader I am today. Reading, at least the reading we choose…

The Summer of 1876 – Leads Me to an Indian Wars TBR Pile

Growing Up With the West As a child of the 1950s and early ’60s, I was raised on Westerns — and I watched just about all of them. From Wagon Train to Tales of Wells Fargo, the Old West was always there. I rode alongside Hopalong Cassidy and Roy Rogers…

Mysterious atmosphere, shadowy figures, suspenseful

Dennis Lehane wrote the first five Kenzie & Gennaro books between 1994 and 1999. I didn’t discover these books until 2002. However, once I did I read all five books in the first four months of 2002! I had to wait 8 more years until he wrote book 6 in…

The White Crow – (Philomena McCarthy #2) – Michael Robothom

The White Crow (Philomena McCarthy #2) – Michael Robotham I have been a big fan of the books of Michael Robotham since I read my first Joe O’Loughlin novel Suspect way back in 2008. There are 9 books in that series and I’ve read all but one, The Wreckage ….

2025 Reading Recap: Fewer Books, Undiminished Thrills……

2025 reading recap book - Guess Again one of my favorites of 2025

So, while I read fewer books than usual in 2025, the ones I did read really delivered. This year’s reading recap leans heavily toward crime fiction and long-running series, with familiar authors, a few strong series starters, and one heavy nonfiction outlier. Less volume, same thrills. 2025 Reading Recap –…
