Dave Van Ronk - The Msyor of MacDougsal Street Book

So I want to go and see the Coen Brothers new movie: “Inside Llewyn Davis” and surprisingly my wife does, too. I really don’t think she knows that the story is based on Dave Van Ronk’s memoirs because I don’t think she’s a fan of Van Ronk’s music! Why I…

“Into the Night” with more Canadian Music! – Some Blues from Steve Strongman!!!

So yesterday afternoon we had a thundershower, but by the time I wanted to run the sun was out and the temperature had dropped appreciably. Oh, I should preface this by saying that the morning starting with my wife telling me that son two, Andrew was at Underwood Hospital in…

Joanne Shaw Taylor and Mitch Kashmar with Me On the Road!

Hot! Yes that describes today’s weather. But it also describes the blues that I listened to this morning on my way to and from Cookstown! On the way there the hotness was supplied by British blues guitarist Joanne Shaw Taylor and on the way back the warmth was provided by…

Jesse Winchester – Gettin’ Ready for Folk Favorite

Jesse Winchester - Jwssw Winchester album

So the other night I ordered my tickets to go to see Jesse Winchester at The Tin Angel here in Philly. I’ve been a fan of Jesse’s music since my wife introduced his music to me in the early 70’s. “Yankee Lady” was the first song she loved. Through the…
